Review: The Brew @ Nieztches 04.30.08 | SBD MP3 FLAC PICS

Last month we cruised The Archive and discovered The Brew a band that jams from Boston. A few weeks after featuring them here on bandsthatjam.net they were nominated for a Jammy for “Best New Artist.” On Wednesday the boys threw down a sick set at Nieztches in Buffalo. This venue has a reputation for having great bands 7 nights a week in the heart of the Allentown district in downtown Buffalo. Back in the 90′s many bands that were getting started like Gov’t Mule, YMSB, and Donna The Buffalo played to small crowds in their early years at this great venue….

The band was founded in 2002 when long time friends Dave Drouin (guitars/vocals) and Kelly Kane (drums) teamed up with brothers Chris (keyboards/vocals) and Joe Plante (bass/vocals).

The set list included a few songs off their new CD, some older jams, and guest appearances by local djembe sensation Alassane Sarr. In addition to their most excellent originals the band played two of the best Beatles and Bob Marley covers I’ve ever heard.

What makes these guys shows so great is their thought provoking lyrics, melodies that keep you dancing all night, improvisational abilities, and their pure talent and high energy that pours out of them on the stage.
