Phish played last night in Canandaigua at CMAC a gem of a venue in one of the most beautiful parts of upstate NY.
The region long known for one of the best places in the northeast for boating, wine tasting, and perfect summers wheather is now getting a reputation for having one of the best outdoor amphitheaters in the area.
Phish is in the first month of their summer tour. The foursome from Vermont is playing some of their best music of their 20+ year career.
Highlights of this show for the first set were Reba & David Bowie.
The second set was one of the best of the summer with a great cover of The Beatles “I Am The Walrus.” The crowd went crazy for Possum & Gogli Apparatus. Bassist Mike Gordon was feeling it through out most of the show especially during the reggae riffs in Harry Hood.
I’m amazed at much better Mike sounds in person. On the recordings you can’t feel the bass reverberating through your chest. Mike was feeling the groove on this night.
The encore featured “First Tube” one of my favorite songs and the same encore song played at the Darien Lake show in 2010 that we covered.
