Umphrey’s McGee continues it’s jaw dropping fall tour with the best improvisational progressive rock of the 21st century. These guys never fail to impress.
Every time out the sextet from Chicago delivers chest pounding, ear blowing, improvisational rock and roll the likes of which haven’t been seen in decades. When I say ear blowing I men that literally. (note to self for next show..if I’m going to stand in front of the stacks bring my earplugs! My head has been ringing for days.)
Since we’ve been following Umphrey’s in 2006 this is one of the best show we’ve seen them play.
On this particular nigth we were treated to some classic Umphrey’s tunes such as Hajimemashite as well as a few songs off of the new album including Mantis, Redtape, & Made To Measure.
The 2nd set was one of the bands best ever with a segue into Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir in the middle of Blue Echo as well as the UMPH classic “Uncommon” off the 2004 LP Anchor Drops.
