Farm to Family Full Moon Festival
The wait is finally over! Farm To Family’s Full Moon Festival returns April 22-24th at their new venue, the All Tech Raceway in Lake City, Florida. If you’ve never attended this festival, here’s 5 reasons why you should come check it out:
#5-It’s Outdoors. Farm to Family is an outdoor music festival, which means you aren’t going to be shoved into a stuffy, crowded arena full of people. Admission includes camping for the weekend, so you can pitch a tent or park your RV right onsite. There are also day passes available if you can’t stick around. Most times, you can hear the music from your front door, but be sure to bring a blanket or some lawn chairs so you can enjoy the artists up close. We always end up parking next to the same people every year by happenstance and we’ve found that there’s never any shortage of friendly neighbors to lend a helping hand. There also always seems to be something interactive and fun going on, whether its hula hooping or dancing by the stage or taking part in the picking tent, so be sure to come check it out or join in!
#4-You can get funky. Farm to Family is a great place to strut your stuff and really express yourself and your personal style. There’s always some really interesting costumes around, from full length, flowy tie dye dresses to komodos, to animal masks and tails. I like to rock vintage floral dresses and boots (or barefeet!) myself. There are no rules when it comes to attire, so have fun with it and come up with something creative that will make you stand out. But if you’re not the dress up type, that’s fine too– just pack something comfortable. We definitely don’t judge.
#3- For The Experience. Farm to Family is unlike any other music festival I’ve ever been to. There’s something about it thats hard to explain, it’s almost magical. It’s a smaller festival, so it does have more of a family feel to it and every time we go, we feel more and more like we’re part of the F2F community. It’s also kid and pet friendly, which is just awesome! There are ALOT of festivals out there that I wouldn’t dream of taking my child to. My pup loves going and looks forward to seeing her four legged friends every year. They make it super easy too, you just have to fill out a form on their site for your dog and bring shot/tag information with you. The best part? Its outside, in the spring, and you will get to not only soak up the sunshine and enjoy some live music, but you also get to soak in a family-friendly atmosphere that is second to none.
#2- The Grub. Food just doesn’t taste as good if it’s not cooked over an open flame. But there are also always a number of food vendors and trucks onsite. Most times, we will pick one day that we don’t want to cook over the fire and scope out the shops. The Lions Club usually provides coffee and a hearty breakfast, and we’ve seen a grilled cheese food truck there a time or two in all their melty, magnificent glory. There’s also other vendors onsite who offer a variety of products like homemade soap, jewelry/clothing and decor items that are perfect to take home as a souvenir.
#1- And of course, the music! Farm To Family’s lineup has always been filled with BandsThatJam. My personal favorite is The Applebutter Express. Their unique blend of bluegrass, funk, and classic rock, teamed with the vocal harmonies created between the husband and wife duo, Shannon and Kyle Biss, make the act difficult to categorize as anything but “delightfully unique.” This upcoming shows lineup is going to feature a few more country artists and even a local favorite, HWY 238, a dynamic country duo of Austin Harden and Brett Maddox, Named in the Top 5 New Acts In Country Music 2016. For more information on who’s playing when, you can check out the lineup here.
