Blog: Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers
Three days ago, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers released their twenty-third “Van Session” taking me back to middle school with “Let’s Hear it For the Boy” from Footloose.

I hadn’t heard of Nicki before the Van Sessions, and have probably watched at least half of them. Part viral marketing genius, part “what we do in the van in our spare time” these Van Sessions have an element of truthfulness and playfulness in them that has me yearning to see them play live. Luckily, their fall tour (started 10/5) has them in Ohio for a couple of days until they make their way into Michigan with a stop at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor, then to Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo, where I’ll catch the show.

From the looks of a recent video from May 2012, we’re in for a great show.
The Michigan shows (10/10 & 10/11/2012) will be supported by Ed Anderson of Backyard Tire Fire (and also the Bloomington Rock School, where he teaches kids how to play rock together… ) For a complete list, here’s their tour page: http://www.nickibluhm.com/tour/
I’m excited for several reasons. Bell’s is always a great show – last week Founder Larry Bell sat in for the Steppin’ In It Encore, so you never know what will happen, and also, I shoot so many DUDES in the jam band scene that it’s downright amazing to have a beautiful woman on the other end of the lens!
For now, follow their tour hijinx on twitter at @nickibluhm
I’m hoping that the track “Jet Plane” gets into the set list:
I’m also a huge fan of their use of instagram for tour pics, would love to see more bands adopt this simple tool!
