The Macpodz at Summer Camp 2010

The Macpodz are a tried and tested band from Ann Arbor Michigan that bring a lot to the table for a jam band.  And they don’t have a guitar player, either. Brennan explained in an exclusive interview with BTJ that this puts them in a great position to be able to jam with some of the best guitar players around.  This time it was Jake Cinninger from Umphrey’s Mcgee joining them on stage to jam. Video from the interview posted soon. The heat was sweltering – the barricades too hot to touch.  These guys drew a moderate crowd of people who all seemed to completely love their unique blend.  We’re sure to see more collaboration, touring…

FLASHBACK: Summer Camp 2010 Umphrey’s McGee

umphreysfridaysetoine05

An epic first set for UM Friday evening opening with Rocker pt. 2. Highlights included an amazing “Girlfriend is Better” Talking Heads cover. I’d been getting a “feeling” all day and by the end of glory, was calling a Cemetery Walk encore. I got it, and the weekend was just beginning. I’d just been handed a UM Summer Sampler the day before which features: 1. Cemetery Walk 1.15.10 2. The Linear 3.12.10 3. Turn & Dub 2.25.10 4. Conduit 2.28.10 5. August 2.13.10 6. 1348 3.13.10 7. Nothing too Fancy 8. Got your Milk (Right Here) 9. Nothing Too Fancy 2.9.10 And was blown away that they did Cem, Turn & Dub, and The Linear…

Umphrey’s McGee Delivers Unique Experience at UMBOWL 2010

UMBOW 2010

Lincoln Theater, Chicago - April 24 Umphrey’s McGee kicked off the inaugural UMBOWL in their home town of Chicago to rave reviews. Those who were lucky enough to get tickets were treated to the most unique concert experiences ever. For those of you not familiar with UMBOWL here’s the break down. The show consisted of 4 “quarters.” Each “quarter” was approximately an hour long. The first set was acoustic and the band played songs chosen by the fans. The second quarter featured improvs by the band with suggestions from the fans who sent requests via text. The 3rd quarter was an all electric request set. The 4th quarter was “Choose Your Own Adventure” where the band…

Review & Photos: Umphrey’s McGee | 3.4.2010 | Buffalo

Screen shot 2010-03-11 at 9.47.51 PM

Umphrey’s McGee continued a white-hot East Coast run Thursday night at the Town Ballroom, a spot that’s become a regular stop for this prog-rock machine. They brought an opening act with them this time, Uglysuit, a 6 piece that brought some solid energy to the stage with Joel from UM joining on keys for a couple. UM took the stage with Kris Myers getting the crowd riled up, sporting a Myers Sabres jersey and inducing USA! USA! chants from the rowdy sold-out crowd. Joel let the fans know their patriotic cheers would get a worthy song, which turned out to be the instrumental Glory after a Jazz Odyssey opened the set. Buffalo fans were treated…
