While cruising Giant Panda Guerila Dub Squad’s website a few months ago we saw they were touring with a band from California called Rebelution. We checked out their website and were immediately impressed with their unique fusion of reggae and rock made popular by Sublime in the 90′s. Opening for Slightly Stoopid at the best venue in Buffalo, Rebelution threw down with intense reggae rhythms and chest pounding bass. The ladies were out in force dressed to kill and ready to dance. The band started off with “Other Side” off their Courage To Grow album with fans singing along for most of the show. This set also features two new songs “Outta Control” & “Brighter…

G.P.G.D.S is defining east coast reggae every night out with its intense dubs, melodic guitar play, and amazing improv. The band finally had a chance to play the “Pirate Ship” aka Nietzsche’s in Buffalo, NY and raised the roof with two sets of intense original reggae. The bands music can be described as lively, roots reggae, with soul, and a psychedelic appeal. After playing a few shows in the suburbs it was great to see the band play before a heady crowd in downtown Buffalo. The band from Rochester is fresh off an east coast tour with west coast reggae sensations Rebelution that saw them playing from NY to Florida. 2009 is already looking like…

Slightly Stoopid made a stop in Buffalo this past Sunday and gave their fans a show to remember. Even though it was a Sunday night you couldn’t tell from the screaming throngs of fans that packed the venue. The band describes their music as “a fusion of acoustic rock and blues with reggae, hip-hop, and punk.” You can expect all of that and more at a Slightly Stoopid show. The band puts on a high energy performance seamlessly changing up from intense reggae beats, high energy punk, to soulful hip hop. To grab the lossless files head over to The Archive. Kevin Kinsella | 2 New Records In ’09

I had a chance to catch up with Kevin Kinsella recently and he has some great news. First he has just announced  dates in California with John Browns Body. This will be Kevin’s first appearance with his former love since leaving the band in 2006. For those of you in Cali you’re in for an intense show that includes the best of future roots riddims and soul reggae all in one evening. Kevin will return to California a few weeks later backed by California based reggae artists Raiz Muzik Kevin also said the much anticipated 10. Foot Ganja Plant album titled Bush Rock will be out on ROIR records this July with a guest appearance…

If you love John Brown’s Body and 10. Foot Ganja Plant your going to dig what we’re bringing you today. We’ve saved the best of 2008 for last. This is a holiday gift from Kevin Kinsella former front man and founding member of JBB. Kevin’s solo material with backing from Food, Cloths &  Shelter gets back to the spiritual roots reggae that JBB was founded on. This set includes new music from the Ithaca native along with 10. Foot Ganja Plant’s  theme song “Walky Walk Tall”, some new tracks, as well as some JBB favorites. One of my favorite tracks in this set is a remake of the Johnny Cash song “I Guess Things Happen…

Jah Works Live @ Champions Billards on 03.04.2006 SBD MP3

jah_works

This is an excellent SBD recording of a band that I’ve been listening to for a while. I was first turned on to them by doing a search for Kevin Kinsella (former front man for John Brown’s Body) on The Archive who has played with them before. Jah Works is one of the best east coast reggae bands joining other east coasters such as G.P.G.D.S and John Brown’s Body. They’ve produced, funded and released six independent releases, including 2001’s acclaimed “Bassmentality”, for a total of over 70,000 units, all sold from a merchandise table.

Matisyahu is set to release it’s first album in more than 3 years. While touring across the nation relentlessly for past few years Matis has found time this year to record new material for his 2009 album titled Light. Shattered is being released today as an EP and includes four tracks from the upcoming album. Here’s what Matisyahu promotions had to say about the new EP. Produced by David Kahne (Paul McCartney, Regina Spektor, Sublime), Shattered features songs from Matisyahu’s forthcoming album, recorded and mixed in Jamaica, New York, Los Angeles, and Virginia. Several guest artists contribute to the four-song EP: ground-breaking Jamaican reggae rhythm section Sly & Robbie (drums and bass, “Two Child One…

Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad Live @ Club Infinity 09.13.2008 MP3

DUB > Missing You [Audio clip: view full post to listen] GPGDS killed it on Saturday night here in Buffalo.  I went to this show unsure of what to expect. I had heard the guys on Sirius and listened to a few of their shows on The Archive but wasn’t completely sold. I love keyboards in a band and GPGDS has a dynamic duo that laid down sick rhythms entire night. GPGDS music just makes a person feel good. It’s some kind of natural aphrodisiac that gives you a sense of elation that is rarely found in music. Think The Wailers meets The Dead and you’ve got GPGDS. Who is GPGDS? They are a 6…
