Picture Show: The Rhythm Devils at the Ogden Theater

Rhythm Devils

Can’t wait to see these guys headline Hoxeyville in August. Keller’s Friend of the Devil was an inspired, respectful, and oh so Keller. Mickey and Bill got their groove on and made me remember the drums at Rothbury. Enjoy!

I have to say I’ve waited for months to see this amazing duo, and as Rach likes to call it, they’re both the “Softer Side of Sears” when it comes to having the raw emotion available to pull off a fricking mandolin / guitar combo.   Color me impressed as they came out and had the audience in stitches during the sound check, shouting “Hey tom, maybe a little bit less of you in my monitors”.  They came back out and delivered a sick show with people packed into the small area outside the barn.   Our favorite was definitely a cover of “Good Times are Killing Me” (Modest Mouse/ Flaming Lips).   I can’t…

keller_disc1

Keller & The Keels: Thief Review by Tim Hurley Normally cover albums draw a lot of skepticism as they tend to be just excuses to pump an album out, which is usually comprised of shoddy renditions of popular artists’s song. And the same could be said about Keller Williams and the Keels’ new release, aptly titled Thief, if it were not for the oddly redeeming but sparkling choices presented in this collection.
