All but 3-Day VIP tickets have been sold out; if you’re lucky you can catch some of the after party’s going on throughout the city. A Big Gigantic Forest Finale
Campgrounds have been torn down, traces of life have been left scattered across the field at Double JJ Ranch, the sun will set on a place where only a day before, over 20,000 spirits resided. The magic of the forest has unfortunately come to at end and with that end comes lasting memories of a weekend filled with music, expression, dance and livelihood. Driving home by myself this morning with heavy eyes and a strong desire for a shower, I had a lot of time to look back at what I had just experienced. The crowd and their unspoken dedication to SCI and the rest of the artists performing, the artists in Sherwood Forest and…
Day Two – Electric Forest
Most of yesterday afternoon was spent running around, catching day shows and trying to find a break from the heat. A lot of good music came out of the day shows, including Big Gigantics’ saxophonist Dominic Lalli making guest appearances in both Cherub and Break Sciences’ sets. I caught Nit GriT and Minnesota feeding a lot of bass to the crowd over at Tripolee and The Infamous Stringdusters had a large following at the Forest stage, just before sunset. A sure highlight to last night was walking into the end of SCI’s set of extreme electronic music. The confusion right there, thinking that someone had spontaneously jumped on stage with some dubstep in the middle…

Interview: Keller Williams
Keller’s musical career is on fire. His recent Kdubalicious album titled simply, “Bass” kicked off last December, and as we write this he’s doing his best to keep the Travelin’ McCourys from fishing off the boat during Jam Cruise. Â I’ve seen Keller play with everyone from The String Cheese Incident to the Rhythm Devils, and caught up with him recently at his show in Ann Arbor, Michigan at the Blind Pig. Â Based on the track he shared with us (scroll all the way down), I can’t wait to see him with the Travelin’ McCourys next summer. Bands That Jam: Â Welcome to Michigan Keller. Â Thanks for sitting down to talk with Bands That Jam. Â What were…
Toubab Krewe and Zongo Junction | NYC | 10.15.11
On a last minute photo call this Wednesday 10/5, I went down to (le) Poisson Rouge on Bleeker Street and here is a sample of what went down! There were more musicians, and even more instruments than i could keep track of, as you can see in the photos below. “Worldly” is certainly an understatement in my opinion, categorization cannot be applied. when both bands took stage together for nearly an hour, it was band meets orchestra, pedal to the metal.
Particle and Shwizz @ Mexicali Live – 9/22/2011
Mexicali Live – Teaneck NJ This past Thursday, Particle and Shwizz co-headlined Mexicali Live in a two team tutorial on everything jazz and funk. Shwizz is a young six piece featuring Gerson Rosen on trumpet, Brad Pfiefer on trombone and 2 percussionists- Andy Boxer and Paul Hollands, along with Ryan Liatsis AKA Shwizz on guitar, and lead bass. For their last tune at Mexicali, Shwizz was joined by Particle’s Steve Molitz for a heavy jazz rendition of Pink Floyd’s “Have a Cigar” (see video below). Shwizz has been quickly rising from side stage…
