I had the privilege of seeing Yonder Mountain String Band, one of my favorites, on August 16th in Peoria on the banks of the Illinois River. Before arriving at the venue, Jay Miller (photographer) and I stopped at Richard’s for a quick bite to eat. We stepped outside for some fresh air before our food arrived and were treated to the sight of Jeff Austin, Yonder’s mandolin player, walking by on a jaunt through downtown Peoria. YMSB Spring Tour
YMSB has just announced Spring 2010 tour dates. This tour is shorter than normal but the band needs to get their banjo player back to Colorado “to meet a stork with a special delivery for him”. The veterans of jam grass are  currently in their 12th year of touring and still have some dates left on their winter tour (see link below for details.) If your into jam bands there is no band that jams like YMSB. YMSB Live @ Buffalo Rocks The Harbor 06.27.09
YMSB has done it again. Another incredible set of intense jam grass in Buffalo. For the 4th year in a row the boys from Colorado were delighted to play for this intimate Buffalo crowd. Joanne Osborne opened kicking off the 2nd night of a great concert series at the newly renovated Erie Canal Wharf Harbor. Complete with a beautiful boardwalk and breathtaking view of the harbor. Yonder Mountain String Band | Summer Tour ’09
YMSB has just announced their summer tour with appearances at festivals across the country. The band will start out Thursday in Tulsa, OK and work their west where they will be playing at Wakarusa Festival and Telluride Bluegrass Festival. The band then heads east for a slew of dates and then closes out the tour with 4 dates with DMB at The Gorge in Washington. They also just recently announced that Xavier Rudd will be joining them at Redrocks. That is sure to be an amazing show. We’re hoping the band will be a 4 time repeat at the Thursday At The Square 2009 Free concert series this year. We’ll have to wait until May…
Three-peat for YMSB | Lafayette Square Buffalo 06.08 | *SBD* MP3
Last year they predicted it, this year they delivered. YMSB became only the third band in the 22 year history of Thursday At The Square to do “an evening with” at Buffalo’s best outdoor venue. After playing the past two years in torrential downpours the sun finally shined for their 3rd appearance. YMSB put on an excellent show playing two sets for a total of over 2 and half hours of intense newgrass. This is a must have set for any YMSB or newgrass/jamband fans. Exclusive: YMSB – Buffalo Video
Yesterday was awesome. YMSB came on as the opener for the 21st Thursday In The Square free concert series in Buffalo, NY. YMSB loves playing this venue and repeatedly told the fans how grateful they were that we came out early and withstood the rain to watch them perform. As usual the crowd was really into the bands high energy bluegrass with everyone dancing and singing along.
