U-Melt took to Nietzsche’s stage around 11PM, playing until the wee hours and allowing for some of those attending Mike Gordon’s show earlier to make their way for a very full night of jamming at its best. Even Mikeand his band members were seen taking in the “organic progressive groove” that U-Melt was laying down. These guys are in their 6th year together and have developed an incredibly focused sound, transitioning genres with a smooth loose feel that never feels forced. Friday night at Nietzsche’s in Buffalo. This was the bar that was my go-to back in college, where I first saw moe. and so many other great jambands back in the 90s. With the jamband scene peaking back then, it wasn’t uncommon to be shoulder to shoulder while getting down till 4AM on the weekends. As the local scene waned a bit, and the frequency of my favorite music coming to Nietzsche’s declined, the likelihood of a full house and me being there became a rarity. With the southeastern leg of their Winter Tour 2009 coming to a close, NYC road warriors U-Melt have solidified plans for their Spring Tour 2009 kicking off at the end of March. Featuring several debuts at venues throughout the northeast. U-Melt Announces Spring Tour 2008

New York City’s favorite groove rockers, U-Melt, will kick off their Spring Tour with their first two night stand in their hometown on Friday, March 28th and Saturday, March 29th at the newly renovated and renamed Sullivan Hall (where the former Lion’s Den used to stand). U-Melt will follow up their 2 night run with an extended Spring Tour, which includes a return to New Orleans for a late night Jazz Fest show at the Blue Nile on Saturday, May 3rd with DJ Logic, as well as three shows with their friends Umphrey’s McGee at the beginning of April.
